Jim Carrey Is A 30 Yr Multi-Generational Treasure, You Cannot Miss Any Chance To See Him On The Big Screen

I have watched him my entire life. I have quoted him. I have watched him my entire life. I have quoted him. I have acted out his characters and, more importantly, I have watched others imitate his ridiculous behaviors in all environments and levels of personal and professional life. I literally quote him as a part of my regular language. He is B-E-A-Utiful.

In, “Jim Carrey ‘fairly serious’ about retiring after latest film” by Harry Taylor,

“The comic actor Jim Carrey has said that he is “fairly serious” about retiring after his latest film in an interview.

The actor, best known for leading roles in films including Bruce Almighty, The Mask and How The Grinch Stole Christmas, said his current reprisal of Dr Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 would probably be his last.

“Well, I’m retiring. Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious,” the 60-year-old told Access Hollywood.

“It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break.”

…He added: “I really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like – and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.””

I saw Sonic 2. He is a huge part of what I love about family comedies. He gives everything, EVERYTHING in every shot. There is no way any other actor is delivering more of themself in every ounce of screen time. Carrey is – and always will be – the embodiment of a cartoon come to life. And his role in this franchise is sharing the screen with three computer generated charters and they are EQUALS in expression.

He isn’t without his personal faults, missteps, crimes, and issues brought to light in the way Twitter swiftly digs up old things forgotten and reminds the world that there hasn’t been justice on pretty serious issues. Yes, I have chosen to separate the art from the artist. And many of those movies I grew up on were pretty inappropriate as well. The 90’s to early 2000’s ‘family’ movies were… cringe-worthy misogynist trash. But, I’m not throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I can choose to love 90% of those movies and choose to love 90% of those performers. Actors who stood out to generations of youngsters will live on forever, just like problematic uncles and not-ok-to-say-that-in-public grandparents that we still love. This will continue to happen and, yes, we can demand more of our artists who become role models. We must demand more.

While we process some of that, it’s ok to enjoy what we loved again and again and again.

To share a few moments of joy from Carrey’s career, I give you a very very very short list from moviequotes.com:

“- Cop: You know why I pulled you over?
– Fletcher Reede: Depends on how long you were following me!
– Cop: Why don’t we just take it from the top?
– Fletcher Reede: Here goes: I sped. I followed too closely. I ran a stop sign. I almost hit a Chevy. I sped some more. I failed to yield at a crosswalk. I changed lanes at the intersection. I changed…” (CONTINUE READING)

– Lloyd Christmas: Hey, you guys want to play “He Who Smelt It”?
– Harry Dunne: Yeah.
– Travis: What’s that?
– Lloyd Christmas: It’s complicated, so pay attention. We put the windows up, first one who smells a fart gets a point. If you say who dealt it, double points.
– Harry Dunne: But if you say you smelled a fart and nobody farted, like if we… (CONTINUE READING)

I’ve been a fan since 1994. Kids will be discovering him for the first time right now in 2022. What a wild ride. I wish nothing but the best for him.

In “Jim Carrey Reveals What It Would Take to Get Him to Reprise His Most Iconic Movie Roles” by PAIGE STROUT, Carrey shares that he isn’t ready to step back into any of those roles now.

“Unless some genius person, director, auteur, comes to you with a completely new take on what’s going on—like, if Chirs Nolan came to me and said, ‘I wanna make Ace Ventura real, and I wanna do something more interesting,’ then I might listen,” he revealed. “After a certain time, there’s not one cell in your body that is that person anymore, so you end up just imitating what you did in the old days, and the original inspiration isn’t there.”

Unless something amazing comes around, we may be at the end of Carrey’s unique and fabulous career in comedy. And that’s ok. I want peace for this national treasure, I want him to have all that we couldn’t offer to great comedians we lost too soon. I want Mr Carrey to have rest, I LOVE what he says about his next steps, from Paige Strout above:

“My vision board is now more of the spiritual field of dreams,” he shared. “I want to learn how to stay in an expanded state of consciousness and yet still be able to deal with the world and pour myself back into this little shoebox called ‘Jim Carrey’ in order to do something to find commonality with other human units.”
