Sitting through this album feels like it’s 1997 and I’m painting alone in my room for a few hours until I transition to lying on the floor and turning on Loveline. I get inspired by energetic alternative rock of my youth (millennial here). BIG Third Eye Blind vibes.
I would listen to this, now, while on a long drive. I have the energy to engage with the whole album- beginning to end. But I’m too old to dance to the whole album. I would put it on while I’m alone, not in the background of a dinner party or small social event.
Today, I’m listening to it at a lower volume while I’m working from home. It gives me confidence, joy, and the right dose of connection to a more youthful me. A bit of hidden melting angst, street cred, and endurance for the work ahead.
